This 'A'ā Pāhoehoe (lava) knob was created by Pele & traveled an unknown path until it was discovered in a pit off Queen Ka'ahumanu Hwy Big Island. In Hawaiian culture, Pele is the goddess of volcanoes & fire & the creator of Lako Hawai'i. Pele’s Curse refers to the widespread belief that taking lava rocks, sand, or any natural materials from Hawaiʻi brings bad luck. Respectfully, this 'A'ā was put back where it was found.
