The Carao tree (Cassia grandis), also known as the Pink Shower Tree, is a tropical ornamental & medicinal plant thriving in Hawaii's climate. Prized for its showy pink flowers, it's long woody pods contain a dark, thick, honey-like pulp with a sweet, cherry-chocolate flavor. The Carao pod is used in drinks & traditional remedies for anemia, energy, & digestion. "Carao" is Spanish for the tree, and it's also called "Stink-foot" due to its pungent aroma. This carao pod was foraged Waikaloa Beach Big Island.
