The Indian Almond (Terminalia catappa), known in Hawaii as False Kamani, is a common, naturalized coastal tree with edible almond-like nuts. Indian Almond nuts are distinct from the native Hawaiian Kamani. While the seeds offer a tasty kernel, they're hard to extract. The tree, loved for its colorful leaves & shade, is now considered invasive due to rapid spread, but also helps with erosion control. This specimen was pulled from the Pacific near A Bay Big Island.
