This Pāhoehoe (lava) tumbled knob was created by Pele, tumbled in the Pacific, then deposited on lava beach where it was discovered. In Hawaiian culture, Pele is the goddess of volcanoes & fire & the creator of Lako Hawai'i. Pele’s Curse refers to the widespread belief that taking lava rocks, sand, or any natural materials from Hawaiʻi brings bad luck.
