This Pāhoehoe (lava) knob was created by Pele, tumbled in the Pacific, then deposited on lava beach to be discovered. In Hawaiian culture, Pele is the goddess of volcanoes & fire, the creator of Lako Hawai'i. Pele’s Curse refers to the widespread belief that taking lava rocks, sand, or any natural materials from Hawaiʻi brings bad luck.
